A Tasteful Job
This skill has been gaining in importance since the early 20th century for two main reasons. First, the massive development of the fizzy drink and sweet industries over the past hundred years has created a new and growing demand for artificial flavouring. Second, technology such as home refrigeration and food-processing techniques have caused much of the food we eat to lose its flavour. It has become the job of flavourists to restore that taste.
Flavourists use approximately 3,000 different chemicals, which are mixed together in different amounts and combinations to create the desired flavour. Obviously, they need a good knowledge of chemistry to determine the chemical composition of individual flavours. However, because they are also required to be innovative, flavourists describe themselves as artists. Many even develop specialised skills – some concentrate on the taste of meat or vegetables, for example, while others focus on “sweet brown” flavours like caramel.
Some flavourists are employed directly by food companies, where they not only create flavours, but also try to discover the chemical composition of flavours created by rivals. However, other job opportunities exist in government agencies and in special “flavour houses”, which develop flavours that are bought by food companies. Flavourists can expect to earn around $50,000 a year to start with, but salaries may eventually reach double or even triple that amount for those with several years of experience.
Of course, some people will always prefer the taste of fresh food. However, perhaps you’ll appreciate the taste of your food even more, now that you know about the hard work that goes into creating it.
The job of taste food in order to enhance or change the flavour of the product is very good, well-paid and interesting. However we can’t say that change or enhance the flavour through chemical process is very good, the natural food has a different flavour, more fresh.
ResponderEliminarMaybe change the flavour with chemical process and to add in the products a lot of chemical substances is the key of innovation, maybe the traditional flavour is old and people needs new things such as news flavours. But is correct to accept this knowing that this food has an artificial flavour? A lot of people don’t think that this can be harmless but they don’t know what this food contains too.
To conclude is very modern and good to make new flavour, nevertheless is not very healthy, maybe we can find a method more natural to make new flavours
The job of create new flavors is very interesting and special, because thanks these workers have been created more different flavors. Of course, they must be chemists, because of they use a lot of chemical products which, mixed, produce different flavors.

Finally, flavorists or chemists earn much money, because, although their job is difficult in order to search new flavors, their job is easier than firefighter work, being that firefighters are in danger. So, I see that their salary is excessive.
The job of creating new flavours is something innovative and interesting, since thanks to this new and different flavours have been created. These new flavours are artificial because of mixing different chemicals to make the new flavours. In my point of view I believe that these new flavours are a good creation, but on the other hand I think that they are not at all healthy since we are eating foods with chemicals. Finally, I think that the salary of these flavourists is quite high since they only have to find a way to create them and get people like that.
ResponderEliminarThe job of flavorist, also known as flavor chemist, has been gaining in importance since the early 20th century. A flavorist, is someone who uses chemistry to engineer artificial and natural flavors, just like perfumers, but utilizes safe materials and chemicals for human consumption. This job is such interesting, but not so easy, due to flavorists must be educated in food chemistry, biology and laboratory testing and experimentation techniques, and have a natural aptitude in these areas. Generally, they have a lot of interests in food flavour, and enjoy working in where they can conduct research relating to it, and apply that knowledge to the improvement of food flavouring.
